1932年，意大利怀特黑德公司研发出了W.270 Tipo F "Siluro Veloce"（意译为“高速鱼雷”）鱼雷，直径533mm，全长7.2m，战斗部270kg。其头部拥有特别的削尖流线型外形，便于加快航速。同年8月22日这种鱼雷首次试验，最高速度达到了50节，可以航行3000-4000m；而低速模式下速度达到30节，可以航行12000m。 | |||
